To assess adolescents' knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs aboutAIDS in San Francisco, data were obtained from 1,326 adolescents.There was marked variability in knowledge across informationalitems, particularly about the precautionary measures to be takenduring sexual intercourse which may reduce the risk of infection.We conclude that development and implementation of school healtheducation programs on AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseasesare needed in this population.
