Community-oriented primary care (COPC) represents a specificvariation on the general primary care model. Seven case studiesfrom vastly different health care settings were examined andthis report describes the diversity of expression of the principlesof COPC observed. The results suggest that COPC is not limitedto publicly funded programs, but can find expression in theprivate sector as well. The organization of financing and thelack of feasible quantitative tools hinder the full developmentof the model.
