A major effort in preventive care for women has emphasized theobtaining of Pap smears and mammograms. This paper uses surveydata from one state to examine issues of access to Pap smearsand mammograms. Poor women receiving health care through a managed-careMedicaid program received these services at the same rate aswomen with other types of health insurance, while the uninsuredwere less likely to have had either type of service.
