The purpose of this study was to evaluate the impact of anonymoustesting availability on human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) testdemand in Arizona. Testing patterns before and after the introductionof anonymous testing were compared. Client knowledge of newtest policy and delay in testing until an anonymous option wasavailable were assessed. Test numbers among men who have sexwith men showed a statistically significant increase after introductionof an anonymous testing option. Arizona continues to maintainanonymous testing availability. Public health agencies shouldconsider how test policy may influence people's HIV test decisions.
