Abstract
Analysis of data from a nationally representative sample ofUS adults (n=195,801) showed that concurrent hearing and visualimpairment (HI+VI) prevalence rates were highest for participantsover 79 years of age (16.6%); a three-fold increase in age-adjustedrates of reported HI+VI was observed for Native Americans comparedto Asian-Americans. Research on preventing concurrent hearingand visual impairment and countering its consequences is warranted, especially in population sub-groups such as Native and olderAmericans.
