You know what's sad? A lot of people, out of any kind of service
branch, are in need of some kind of medical services, whether it be
physical or mental. That's why to me there is a need for universal health care
in the United States. That way, the heroes of this nation, who served
our country in World War II to the soldiers serving our country at this
very moment and everyone in between, would get the medical help they truly need.
Instead of putting these soldiers through more depression caused by the
people who could care less about these problems, we should be helping them
and everyone get what should be provided in the USA, without having to
worry about whether or not they're going to eat if they go to the hospital because
of some problem they have. I thought that by going against a US Vet (Army,
Marines, Navy, Airforce) you were the enemy, so why are we fighting ourselves? HELP us please, SPC Moya 3/3ID
I'm a three year veteran, service connected, 1979-1982, US Army and
haven't been able to get any type of health or life insurance.
When first applying for life insurance, I answered truthfully. Yes, I
had pre-cervical cancer. That information ended up in the MIB (Medical
Information Bureau), which all health and life insurance companies have
access to. It was one of three SIMPLE questions they ask of you, and you're ruined
for life. I can't get coverage for my house if I die to leave it paid to a
spouse, for instance. I've always been turned down.
My only medical coverage is strictly the VA hospitals and clinics,
which I do appreciate very much.
